There are two types of monitors
A) CRT (Cathode Ray Tube)
B) LCD (Liquid Crystal Display)

CRT :-
A cathode-ray tube is a vacuum tube containing one or more electron guns, which emit electron beams that are manipulated to display images on a phosphorescent screen. The images may represent electrical waveforms, pictures, radar targets, or other phenomena. A CRT on a television set is commonly called a picture tube.

LCD:-
They work by using liquid crystals to produce an image. The liquid crystals are embedded into the display screen, and there's some form of backlight used to illuminate them. The actual liquid crystal display is made of several layers, including a polarized filter and electrodes.
